Governor Henry McMaster expressed his appreciation to Sheriff Don Reynolds and the Laurens County Sheriff's Office for their "good work" in protecting animals. The Governor's note states that he received a letter from The Humane Society of the United States "praising your recent work protecting animals."
Laurens County Animal Control and the Laurens County Sheriff's Office have recently rescued hundreds of animals from deplorable conditions and mistreatment.
"When people will mistreat innocent animals the way we have seen them mistreated recently, it scares me to think of what they are capable of," stated Sheriff Reynolds.
"I know animals aren't people, but I certainly take their abuse seriously and it will not be tolerated in this county."
